We are located in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario Canada approximately 1 hour from Toronto and 10 minutes from Niagara Falls and the border to the USA. We live on a one acre treed lot where our dogs and puppies can frolic and play.
My first introduction to dogs as a child was through my grandfather who brought home all the strays in the neighbourhood. They were either re-homed or remained in his home for life. We also had Welsh Corgis followed by Golden Retrievers.
As an adult I have raised Dobermans and Rhodesian Ridgebacks, however, once I had my first Portuguese Water Dog my heart was stolen by this very special breed.
We are small breeders whose focus is on health, temperment and structure. All health clearances are performed on our dogs and when you receive your puppy package you will find copies of these clearances. We believe in socializing our puppies and exposing them to as much as possible before they go to their forever homes. Our dogs live in the house with us and are part of our family. Our puppies are raised by loving hands in our kitchen where they are exposed to all the noises of everyday life including the vacuum, visitors, TV, the clanging of pots and pans, and whatever else is going on in our lives. They also have the beginnings of housebreaking and training while with us which provides a great foundation for your continued work and fun. Good structure allows your dog’s body to stand up to every day stresses on bones and joints as well as ensuring they are able to enjoy all the fun of a dog’s life right through old age. Whether a pet or a performance dog, most dogs sustain some form of injury during their lives. Good structure helps to prevent these injuries and/or assists the healing process.
Our Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) registered puppies are sold with a health guarantee on non breeding contracts to approved purchasers. On picking up your puppy at 10 to 12 weeks of age you will receive a puppy package with information on behaviour, health, training, feeding , vaccinations, a membership to the Portuguese Water Dog Club of Canada, pet insurance and a one week supply of food.
I have a great time participating in Conformation, Obedience, Agility and Water Work and truly believe that having fun with your dog is what it is all about. I am a member of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of Canada, the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America, a member and trainer for St. Catharines and District Kennel and Obedience Club, assist with classes at Jane Book’s Dog Obedience School in Beamsville and am Certified by the Canadian Kennel Club to test dogs in their Canine Good Neighbour Program.
I am always willing to support puppy buyers with any issues they may have and I encourage buyers to keep in touch as I have a broad network of contacts in many areas of the wonderous world of dogs.
